How do we scale biological production from promising technology to robust, industrial reality? 

Biomanufacturing is emerging as a cornerstone of the transition towards a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy. By harnessing microorganisms, enzymes and cellular systems, it becomes possible to transform biomass into ingredients, materials and chemicals – reducing reliance on fossil-based inputs while opening new pathways for value creation. 

Yet, while the technological potential is significant, realising it at scale remains a complex undertaking. It is within this landscape that the Biomanufacturing Network operates. 

Processes that perform well in controlled environments must be translated into stable, cost-efficient and scalable production systems. Upstream and downstream processes need to align. Monitoring, optimisation and cleaning technologies must be integrated. And not least, market demands, regulatory frameworks and investment conditions must support the transition.

Who is the network for? 

The network is relevant for companies, researchers and stakeholders working with biomanufacturing, including biosolutions companies, SMEs, universities, CMOs, technology providers and public actors seeking insight into scaling, technologies and industrial applications. 

These are some of the themes we work with in the network, where we meet four times a year, hosted by companies and other partners across the country. All meetings will be held in English.

I Food & Bio Cluster Denmark samler vi mennesker fra virksomheder, forskning og organisationer i faglige netværkværksgrupper med ét fælles mål: at skabe innovation, der kan bidrage til en fødevaresektor med netto-nul udledning.

Med fokus på specifikke faglige temaer skaber netværkene et rum for at dele ny viden, fremme dialog og facilitere matchmaking blandt medlemmer, så fælles muligheder kan identificeres og de første skridt mod nye samarbejder kan tages.

Mere samarbejde er en forudsætning for at accelerere den grønne omstilling. Vejen mod netto-nul udledning af drivhusgasser inden 2050 kræver løsninger, der både reducerer udledninger og ændrer den måde, ressourcer udnyttes på.
